What Is PRS and PPL, and Do You Still Need Them?

If you play music in your business — whether it's a hair salon, retail store, gym, café or co-working space — you've likely come across PRS and PPL. Do you still need them?

PRS and PPL are the UK's two main Performing Rights Organisations. They collect fees on behalf of songwriters and recording rights holders when their music is played in public.

If your venue plays licensed music through Audiimax, you don't need to deal with PRS or PPL directly — your subscription covers the equivalent rights for the catalogue. That removes a separate bill, a separate compliance line, and the risk of falling foul of their rules.
